Dental Veneers

Correct broken, stained and misaligned teeth in Harley Street London

What are Dental Veneers?

One of the most popular procedures carried out at 77 Harley Street is the use of dental veneers to correct significant teeth defects such as cracking, misalignment and deep staining. Where teeth whitening cannot be used to address staining, orthodontics (braces) to correct misalignment and where techniques such as cosmetic bonding cannot mend cracked teeth, then veneers can provide an excellent solution.

Dental veneers are very thin layers of porcelain that fit over the front surface of the teeth and mask underlying defects – they may be considered in principle to act similarly to false fingernails.

How are Veneers Fitted?

To fit a veneer, first the underlying tooth surface is prepared by removal of a small layer at the tooth surface so that a perfect fit is achieved. Next an impression is taken of the surface of the teeth and sent to the dental laboratory so that the veneers can be constructed. At this stage, temporary veneers may be fitted but this does not happen in all cases.
On a subsequent visit, the surfaces of the teeth are cleaned and the veneers firmly fixed in place using a special dental bonding agent. The result is a great looking, natural smile in a relatively short space of time. Veneers can achieve a similar effect to orthodontics (braces) but in a much shorter timescale – it is for this reason that the technique is often referred to as “instant orthodontics”.

How long do veneers last? Can I afford them?

If cared for properly, veneers can last for up to ten years. They are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures and often feature in the full “smilemakeover” procedures associated with Hollywood stars.

However, the procedure is now far more accessible and affordable for the general public – please contact us for free guidance and to arrange a consultation.
